Landscape of Entanglement features a series of drawings, a wall mounted collective sculpture, along with a sound and paper installations, culminating from artist's experiences through both visual study and the years of necessary nomadic migration within both urban and non-urban environments. This collection focuses on various human living spaces examining concepts of home as shelter and safe place.

Vertical Living is a sound installation that delves into the complexities and entanglements of urban living spaces. Utilizing cardboard as its core material, this artwork embodies the essence of shared shelter within bustling cityscapes. The installation seamlessly blends recorded sounds contributed by my American friend, who eloquently reflects upon the concept of home, with a rich tapestry of everyday activities from my homeland. The mélange of bazaar ambiance, vendor chatter, street musicians' melodies, and other familiar sounds recorded in Tehran, intertwine with the heartfelt narrative, creating a multi-layered experience. By harnessing remnants of basic social patterns and relationships, Vertical Living visually represents the collective efforts of individuals striving to construct and attain a common space that offers solace and refuge.

Eviction/Extinction

Details of the work

Inspired by a tenant eviction advertisement in an Iranian newspaper, this poignant work emerged as part of a collection exploring the profound notions of living space and home. Without altering the images captured by photojournalists, I chose to incorporate them into the collection. Among them is a striking photograph of an elderly woman who tragically passed away after authorities demolished her home. This body of work is deeply informed by my own experiences of migration and living among individuals from diverse social strata.
